Canada Day 2009

Canada Day at Harmony Park actually took place at the Summerville Fire Hall due to the questionable weather, but that didn't stop a big crowd from enjoying live music from Barb Gallagher, granddaughter Rhianna Braun, the Ogilvie Brothers, and the Shore Singers.

Jennifer Appleby shared her newfound talent for face painting, and the kids had a great time coloring, building, scavenger hunting with Denise Stockdale, and playing Crazy Canada Games with Nick Gilbert.

The day was topped off with delicious cake from the Avon Emporium and Farmers Dairy ice cream to go along with a picnic of great BBQ food from the Fire Department, fresh fruit and veggies, and frozen treats.

"Birthday" presents were awarded to the winners from the Canada Colors contest, Rhymes With Canada poetry competition, and the Build a Birthday Lego contest. The fantastic entries for all three contests were on display.

Thanks again to all the wonderful volunteers and sponsors who made another great Canada Day party possible! We'll see you all again nex tyear!

Harmony Park is a community park surrounding Dr. Arthur Hines Elementary School in Summerville, NS. It provides effective, beautiful space for healthy activities for all ages and acts as a focal point for the community.

First Kicks Soccer 2010

We have been having alot of fun!! Program ran until Aug. 24th.

Grateful thanks are again extended to FKS Co-ordinator Shirley Weatherbee and Coaches Wade Weatherbee and Ernest Eddy.

There were usually about 40 players each night last year and most have returned. You have all improved since last year, Coaches are very proud of you!

Thanks to Denise Stockdale, Tina Snelgrove and Domenic Padula for volunteering to be Assistant Coaches. Welcome to Jillian Redden, Harmony Park's Summer Student who is helping with the 4-5 year olds.

Hants Shore Ukulele Group

Anyone aged between 7 and 107 years interested in learning about a new Ukulele Group starting on the Hants Shore is warmly invited to attend an information session and launch at the Avon Emporium, Summerville, on Thursday September 9 at 7 pm. The group is open to beginners and intermediate players, and tuition will be free and fun. Join us at the launch to learn more including tips on choosing and buying a ukulele. Family Summer Fun Days

Check out our calender for details about fun family events being held Sundays throughout the summer at Harmony Park in Summerville, NS. During your outing to the Hants Shore, you can also enjoy the Sunday brunch at the Avon Emporium, picnic at any one of the quiet beaches dotting the shoreline, or visit Summerville’s Farmers’ Market located in the yard at the Avon Emporium from 11am—2pm.

All Family Summer Fun Day Events are scheduled from 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Event cancellation will be posted on Harmony Park’s website by 10:00am of the event day.

No Rain Dates.

Moe's Place Music Sales Art Contest 2010

Help our community by entering your ideas and art into our art contest. We invite you to submit colorful paintings or drawings that combine elements of music and a more greener enviromnent for our community. All of the pictures will be displayed at Moe's Place Music Sales, in downtown Windsor. Two pieces of art will be chosen and the artists will each receive a Ukulele from Moe's Place Music Sales.

Requirements

* Group one age 5-8

* Group two age 9-11

* Standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper

* Include name and phone #

* Deadline June 1st at 4:00pm
